Detroit City FC will welcome athletes of Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) at its final regular season match of the season this Friday, July 14 at Keyworth Stadium.
Friday’s kickoff against Lansing United is set for 7:30 p.m.
Before the match, DCFC will host a clinic for Special Olympics Michigan athletes at Keyworth. The hour-long clinic will include instruction from City players and staff.
During halftime of Detroit City FC’s match, Special Olympics Michigan athletes will play a match of their own on the field.
As part of the night, admission for Friday’s match is free for all SOMI athletes.
“DCFC is proud to support an organization that is committed to providing opportunities for athletes of every background,” City general manager Donovan Powell said.
DCFC is hosting fundraiser at bd’s Mongolian Grill in Royal Oak (430 S Main St) on Wednesday, July 12 to benefit Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI)!
A portion of the proceeds from each meal purchased at bd’s from 6-8 PM will be donated to SOMI.
All guests should indicate to their server that they’re there for DCFC’s fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan.
There will also be a prize drawing, and guests will have the chance to win a BD’s gift card, an autographed DCFC jersey and four Gold section tickets to DCFC’s July 14th match vs. Lansing United.
Special Olympics Michigan provides free sports training and athletic competition for more than 23,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities every year.
