Detroit City FC hits the road tomorrow for a high-stakes matchup against Lansing United at 2 p.m. at the East Lansing Soccer Complex.
Not only will Le Rouge try to extend its win streak to nine games tomorrow in Lansing, but it will also look to clinch a playoff berth.
Detroit (8-2-1, W-T-L) can secure a playoff spot with a win tomorrow since Lansing (6-0-5) lost to Michigan Stars FC on Friday night Lansing will look to rebound from the loss and keep its playoff hopes alive with a win of its own.
This will be the first regular season meeting between the two clubs. They will meet again next Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Keyworth Stadium to wrap-up DCFC’s 2017 National Premier Soccer League regular season.
Lansing is in third place in the Great Lakes Division standings with 18 points. It would need to win out and have Detroit, with 26 points, lose its three remaining matches in order to steal the second playoff spot.
AFC Ann Arbor (9-1-1) has already clinched the first playoff spot and currently sit in first place in the Great Lakes Division with 28 points.
Detroit meets Ann Arbor next Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Keyworth Stadium in a re-scheduled match after Friday’s original date was postponed due to rain.
Until then, Detroit must prepare for a tough road test against a Lansing team looking to bounce back, keep its playoff hopes alive and defend its home pitch.
