Detroit City FC is proud to partner with WDET for DCFC’s June 27th match against FC Indiana. The evening will be a fun natured celebration of public radio, and a chance to raise funds for WDET, Detroit’s Public Radio station.
To DCFC’s knowledge, it is the first public radio-themed night at an American sporting event.
“WDET is an invaluable cultural institution in our community and the premier teller of Detroit’s story,” DCFC co-owner Sean Mann said. “In a time of uncertainty around federal funding for public broadcasting, it means a lot to us to have this opportunity to support Detroit’s NPR station.”
The NPR-themed match will include pre-match warm-up music from Ann Delisi of Ann Delisi’s Essential Music; a Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me themed quiz featuring WDET personalities; a half-time obstacle course competition; and an Ira Glass lookalike contest.
The night will also feature a silent auction for items including a WDET Prize Pack with limited edition Detroit City FC autographed merchandise. Attendees will have a chance to meet their favorite WDET personalities, including Jerome Vaughn and Pat Batcheller.
“WDET is thrilled at the opportunity to partner with DCFC,” WDET General Manager Michelle Srbinovich said. “This is a great example of how two organizations committed to Detroit can come together to make an impact in our community while having a great time. Athletes and public radio nerds unite!”
Proceeds from tickets to the June 27th match purchased through WDET’s website between June 19-21 will benefit the station and its mission to tell Detroit’s stories and celebrate its rich cultural community.
