Detroit City FC (2-1-2) made it two NPSL wins in a row thanks to a 3-1 road victory over FC Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
Shawn Lawson (7′), Bakie Goodman (49′) and an FC Indiana own goal (63′) sealed the win for Le Rouge.
Lawson was named the Man of the Match for his opening goal and his assist on Goodman’s winning goal.
Lawson and Tyrone Mondi connected early to give City a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, but the lead didn’t last long after Indiana’s Lukman Ahmed-Shaibu responded less than three minutes later.
The first half ended without stoppage time due to lightning. After an hour lightning delay, the second half began, and so did the City scoring.
It didn’t take Le Rouge long to find the breakthrough, as Lawson played Goodman and he slotted it home in the 49th minute.
City’s midfield, led by Aaron Franco and Dave Edwardson, commanded the match. An overall team effort propelled City to the victory, with a fortunate bounce off a Derrick Otim cross closing the scoring in the 63rd minute.
Le Rouge close out the weekend with six points and move to third place in the Great Lakes conference standings after beating Grand Rapids FC, 3-1, at Keyworth Stadium on Friday night.
