Detroit City FC hosts Glentoran FC at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, May 27 for the Detroit Cougars 50th Anniversary Match.
The DCFC International Series match presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions will commemorate Detroit’s first professional soccer team, the 1967 Detroit Cougars, which was represented by Glentoran. Saturday’s match kicks off at 7:30 PM.
Ahead of the match, Detroit City has announced plans to host events for both teams and their supporters.
On Friday, May 26, Glentoran will train at Keyworth Stadium from 1-2:45 PM. The training session is open to the public.
At 7 PM, DCFC will host a Detroit Cougars 50th Anniversary reception at Amnesia inside of MotorCity Casino Hotel (2901 Grand River Ave). Both teams will be in attendance, as will alumni from the 1967 Detroit Cougars squad. The reception will feature light hors d’Oeuvres and is open to the public.
On Saturday, May 27, supporters will have the chance to mingle with both teams at breakfast, which will be hosted at Third Man Records (441 West Canfield) from 10-11 AM.
Ahead of the 7:30 PM kickoff, supporters are encouraged to head to Fowling Warehouse (3901 Christopher St), Le Rouge’s official prematch bar and the March to the Match starting point.
Tickets for Saturday’s match are $15 online and are still available at tickets.https://www.detcityfc.com. Tickets will cost $20 online and at the gate on matchday.
