Detroit City FC wrapped up its 2016 regular season with a 2-1 loss to Michigan Stars FC in front of 6,384 supporters at Keyworth Stadium on Friday night.
Javi Bautista (Ashford) got the scoring started in the 26th minute. Cyrus Saydee (Michigan State) curled in a corner that found Bautista unmarked in the six-yard box. Bautista headed it into the wide-open net, 1-0.
With two goals in six minutes, the Bucks’ Eric McWoods stole a victory for his Michigan Stars teammates. First, McWoods found himself in the right place at the 79th minute mark. A bouncing ball off a corner fell to McWoods and he slotted home to tie the game.
Then, in the 85th minute, McWoods got on the end of a long-ball and chipped the keeper for the game-winner.
Despite conceding twice, Cody Lang (Seattle Pacific) played a solid game in net and earned the M1 Imaging Man of the Match honors. The Stars peppered Lang throughout and his 13 saves kept the game close.
