Detroit City FC saw its playoff hopes evaporate with a 3-1 loss at Lansing United on Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Channell (Saginaw Valley State) scored the only goal for Le Rouge in the 80th minute.
The Boys in Rouge found themselves down 1-0 at halftime, despite having 60 percent of the possession and many more quality scoring chances through the first 45 minutes.
Lansing struck on a counter-attack in the 43rd minute. Lukas Muszong got free down the right side and slid a cross over to Alec Greene who easily tapped in. Greene’s goal gave the game a much different feel just before halftime.
In the 59th minute, Lansing extended the lead. Austin Dunn put James DeCosemo in behind and he made no mistake, 2-0.
DeCosemo added his second goal of the afternoon, Lansing’s third in the 74th minute.
Le Rouge wraps up the regular season next Friday, July 15 against Michigan Stars at Keyworth Stadium. Tickets for the match are available here.
