Detroit City FC (4-2-4) hits the road to take on Lansing United (3-3-4) this Sunday, July 10 in a must-win match at Michigan State University’s DeMartin Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 12 PM ET.
With only two matches remaining in the 2016 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Great Lakes West season, Sunday’s match presents a tough away test and a crucial three points for the Boys in Rouge.
The two clubs met on June 12 at Keyworth Stadium and played to a 2-2 draw. Tommy Catalano (Oakland) and Jeff Adkins (Butler) were the DCFC goal-scorers that afternoon.
Since the first meeting, Le Rouge has a 3-0-1 record, having outscored opponents 9-1 in the last four games, combined.
DCFC is 1-1-0 all-time at DeMartin Stadium. Their most recent trip was on May 31, 2015, when City lost, 3-1.
In 2014, the teams met in the final week of the regular season and played to a 2-2 draw.
“Obviously, Lansing’s going to be tough on their field. We haven’t won there,” noted Pirmann.
After defeating AFC Ann Arbor, 3-1, on the road last Sunday, DCFC now must win its last two remaining matches – away at Lansing on Sunday and then home to Michigan Stars FC on Friday, July 15 – to keep its playoff hopes alive.
