Detroit City FC continues to make history as it welcomes English side FC United of Manchester for its first-ever trip to the States. The two supporter-built clubs will play an international friendly at Keyworth Stadium this Saturday at 3 PM ET, but that’s just one of the many events taking place during a celebratory weekend.
On Friday, a public training session will be held at Keyworth from 1 to 3 p.m., giving supporters an opportunity to see Le Rouge and The Reds prepare for Saturday’s fixture. At 7 PM ET, Nancy Whiskey Pub will host a party for both teams and their supporters.
Supporters may join the teams on Saturday morning for breakfast at Third Man Records from 9 to 11 a.m. After that, you’ll have an hour to get to Fowling Warehouse for the pre-match party which will run from noon until the March to the Match begins. Then, after the match, it’s over to HopCat Detroit for the post-match party, beginning at 5 p.m.

FC United’s last match of the season was almost a month ago. A 2-2 draw on April 30 at Broadhurst Park, their home pitch, brought the club’s record to 15-8-19 for the 2015/16 season. The Reds finished thirteenth in the table, in the middle of the National League North, the sixth tier of the English pyramid.
Le Rouge’s slate of six matches in 12 days ended with a 3-2 away loss to Kalamazoo FC in league play. The two-week span also consisted of two U.S Open Cup matches, which were both decided in penalty kicks. After defeating the Michigan Bucks in the first round, Detroit fell to Louisville City FC down south.
