The stage is set and the calendar is packed for Detroit City FC this week. Two games in four days keeps Le Rouge busy all week long.
The last time DCFC hosted a National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) opponent at Cass Tech was June 6; the next time they host one won’t be until June 28. But supporters will have a reason to cheer this week.
Wednesday, June 17, Le Rouge welcome the Columbus Crew College Program to Cass Tech for a midweek friendly matchup. With kickoff set for 7:30 p.m., the game won’t count towards the NPSL Midwest standings, but it matters nonetheless, as DCFC look to stay unbeaten this month.
After the friendly, City takes to the road again for their second of three-straight NPSL road games. Saturday, June 20, City takes on the Cincinnati Saints at Withrow High School, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
DCFC is the only opponent from the state of Michigan that Cincinnati will play all season, but it won’t be easy for the Saints, as Le Rouge reign atop the table. Coming off a 3-1 away defeat against the Indiana Fire, Cincinnati will be excited to return home to Withrow, where they are undefeated this year.
This past weekend, DCFC earned a valuable point against the Minnesota United Reserves. The 2-2 draw seemed an unlikely result for Le Rouge, going down a man early on, but the boys battled back. In the 27th minute, already down 1-0 to United, City defender Seb Harris (Oakland) was red carded and had to leave the match, putting Le Rouge in a difficult situation. Just before halftime, DCFC drew level on a penalty kick from the captain, Josh Rogers (Michigan State). United regained the lead in the 69th minute, but no more than 10 minutes later, Cyrus Sadee’s (Michigan State) cross found Alex Isaevski (Saginaw Valley State), who headed the ball home for the tie. The score held, and DCFC left Minnesota unbeaten.
Detroit City FC returns to Cass Tech this Wednesday against the Columbus Crew College Program, and the next home matchup is not until June 28th, so make sure to get your tickets. Tickets to every DCFC home match can be purchased at https://www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
