Michigan State: Kylie Stannard and Ben Pirmann’s squad dropped a 2-0 result at Oakland on Wednesday before earning a 1-1 draw against Northwestern on Sunday. With a rather disappointing week, Michigan State (3-1-2 Big Ten, 9-3-3 overall) faces two pivotal matchups the next seven days. The Spartans travel to Notre Dame on Oct. 29 for a 7 p.m. kickoff and they’ll host Michigan on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
Michigan: The Wolverines fought to a 0-0 draw against Detroit on Tuesday and lost 3-1 to Indiana on Sunday. Colin McAtee recorded an assist in Sunday’s loss, while William Mellors-Blair and Nick Lewin earned spots in the starting lineup. Tyler Arnone had one shot on goal in the draw against the Titans, but was sidelined Sunday with an injury he sustained in practice earlier in the week. Michigan (2-2-2 Big Ten, 4-7-3) hosts Oakland at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 before traveling to Michigan State on Nov. 2 (see above).
Saginaw Valley State: Craig Neal tallied two goals and an assist in Friday’s 5-3 win over Findlay. Aleksander Isaevski and Zach Vasold both added assists in the victory. Sunday, the Cardinals (9-2-2 GLIAC, 12-2-2) lost 2-1 at Tiffin in which the DCFC trio all earned a spot in the starting 11. This week, SVSU will travel to Northwood on Halloween for its regular-season finale. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
Butler: Jeff Adkins recorded three shots — one on target — in Butler’s 1-0 loss to Villanova on Saturday. The Bulldogs (1-4-1 Big East, 5-6-4) host Seton Hall on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. before concluding its week against Providence on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
Western Michigan: The Broncos (2-0-1 MAC, 8-4-3) played only one game this week, but it was a great success as they eked out a 1-0 win at Akron on Saturday. Connor Furgason and Sean Hazen were both starters in the victory. Western Michigan continues its tour of Ohio this week, traveling to Dayton on Oct. 28 for a 7 p.m. start before visiting Bowling Green on Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.
Oakland: The Grizzlies upset Michigan State on Tuesday, 2-0, marking their first win against a ranked opponent since 2010. Shawn Lawsondelivered the assist on Oakland’s first goal, while Joey Tinnion and Raphael Reynolds both earned the start for the Grizzlies. Oakland (5-0-1 Horizon, 7-5-1) is riding a seven-game winning streak, and it will travel to Michigan on Oct. 29 (see above) before hosting Wright State on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
Detroit: Matt Ybarra and Cameron Roberts combined for three assists in the Titans’ 3-0 win over Cleveland State on Saturday. Earlier in the week, Detroit played Michigan to a 0-0 draw, in which both Ybarra and Roberts earned a spot in the starting lineup. The Titans (5-1 Horizon, 8-4-3) will welcome Bowling Green to Detroit on Oct. 29, and they’ll visit Belmont on Nov. 1 for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
Coastal Carolina: Bret Mollon and his Chanticleers lost a heartbreaker — a 2-1, double-overtime loss to Clemson — on Tuesday. This week, Coastal Carolina (4-0-0 Big South, 10-4) hosts Winthrop on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. before playing at Radford on Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
