The 2014 Detroit City FC season left us all with much to revel in.
And the offseason is no reason to stop celebrating the beautiful game in Detroit.
Le Rouge is excited to bring a co-ed adult recreational soccer league to Detroit’s Historic Fort Wayne this fall. With a six-week regular season beginning on September 16 and culminating on October 28, ‘Soktoberfest’ aims to bring together those in the Metro Detroit area for competition and, most of all, an enjoyment of the game.
There is certainly no shortage of passion for soccer in Detroit, and the same can be said for food. Soktoberfest looks to blend those two passions by allowing each team to choose its name based on a Metro Detroit bar or restaurant that best represents the team as a whole. With the bar or restaurant’s approval, of course, you pick one that you think suits your team.
Space is limited! See below for more details:
Who: If you aren’t a Detroit resident, fear not. All Metro Detroit residents are welcome and encouraged to play.
To ensure the league remains competitive and fun for all, each team must register at least 18 players. Uniforms are not necessary, but matching tops are required. Because this is a co-ed league, three females must be on the field during league play.
Where: Historic Fort Wayne located at 6325 W Jefferson Ave, Detroit.
When: Soktoberfest’s six-week regular season runs from September 16 until October 28, with one week of playoffs. Games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
How much: Each registered player must pay $20. All teams must complete a waiver with players’ signatures and pay with one check per team made out to Detroit City FC due no later than Thursday, September 11.
