After School Program – Marcus Garvey Academy

The Marcus Garvey Academy After-School Soccer Program introduces students in grades 1-2 to the game of soccer while using the sport as a tool for cultural learning and connection. Inspired by the Urban Football League and supported by Detroit City FC, the program highlights soccer’s global ties to the Black diaspora and other cultures through history, art, and community. Students will develop soccer skills, teamwork, and confidence while building cultural awareness, pride, and a meaningful connection to Detroit City FC and the local soccer community.
