To put it lightly, Detroit City FC was a dominant force in the 2013 NPSL Regular Season, finishing the year with the most wins, fewest losses, best goal differential, and atop the Great Lakes Division of the NPSL. For the second consecutive season, Le Rouge was in the playoffs, this time as the top seed and as the host, waiting for them was the fourth seed and bitter rivals, AFC Cleveland.

Revenge on the 2012 Playoffs would come at last for Le Rouge as they would advance to the Great Lakes Division Finals after defeating AFC Cleveland 3-1 with the usual suspects finding the back of the net for DCFC on the big stage.

Detroit City FC did not have long to bask in the glory of their revenge win over Cleveland, having to face Erie the day after. Erie came out and played fearless football, enough to hand Le Rouge their only loss of 2013 in the Great Lakes Division Final. Erie’s first goal of the match was scored by Danny Deakin who would go on to appear for Le Rouge in 2016, 2018, and 2019.
