Detroit City FC (DCFC) is proud to donate $5,000 to Capuchin Soup Kitchen following the club’s Community Partner Recognition at Keyworth Stadium on September 19, where Le Rouge earned a 1-0 victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
The donation was generated through sales of Detroit City FC’s limited-edition 2026 charity kit, which sold out over the span of one week, along with proceeds from the auction of game-worn jerseys from Saturday’s match.
The match also offered an opportunity for Capuchin Soup Kitchen to connect directly with the Keyworth community. Representatives from the organization were on site to share information about Capuchin Soup Kitchen’s mission, programs and opportunities for supporters to get involved. Br. Tien Dinh served as the match’s honorary captain and, alongside his peers, addressed the Keyworth crowd at halftime to share more about the organization’s work serving Detroiters.
To top things off, the game itself was a thriller – as Kian Williams delivered the decisive moment in the 73rd minute, scoring his first goal for Le Rouge after Haruki Yamazaki created the opportunity with a well-placed header. The finish lifted Detroit City to a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh with Carlos Herrera securing his 11th clean sheet of the season.
Back in June, Capuchin Soup Kitchen was selected as DCFC’s annual charity partner by its community owners. Since 2013, DCFC community owners have nominated and voted to select an organization each season, maintaining a club tradition rooted in community investment and the values of supporters across Detroit.
