Detroit City FC is proud to announce that David Dwaihy has been named the 2026 USL W League Central Conference Executive of the Year.
The honor recognizes Dwaihy’s enduring leadership, commitment and impact on the growth of Detroit City FC and its USL W League program. Beginning in 2026, the USL W League expanded its annual Executive of the Year, Coach of the Year and Organization of the Year awards to recognize one recipient from each conference. Dwaihy was selected as the Central Conference’s Executive of the Year.
The award reflects Dwaihy’s years of service to Detroit City FC, his stewardship of the W League program and his continued work to build opportunities for players and advance the game throughout the city.
“I am humbled by the honor of this award, and I am proud to accept it on behalf of all the amazing colleagues and players I’ve had the pleasure of working with since Detroit City FC first joined the W League,” Dwaihy said.
“From my inspirational mentor and a true advocate and ambassador for the women’s game, Tiffany Ebert-James, to our talented and wonderful head coach, Dani Evans, to my trusted assistant on all administrative matters, Makenna Mascaro, to our impeccably organized and dedicated VP of Operations, Kevin Brehmer, to all the amazing players who represent the club so admirably — I have been blessed to work with so many remarkable people, and I am grateful for each of them. I am also extremely thankful for all the wonderful folks on the W League’s administrative staff — Alyssa Henyecz, Amy Ramras, and Lia Ehlers — and cannot overstate my appreciation for their unrelenting guidance and support.”
One of Detroit City FC’s five founders, Dwaihy has been instrumental in shaping Le Rouge since the club’s first season in 2012. A co-owner, former player, broadcaster, coach and club leader, he has consistently served the organization in a range of roles while helping establish a lasting foundation for soccer in Detroit.
Dwaihy took over as DCFC’s USL W League head coach in 2023 and guided the program through a historic period. In 2024 he led Detroit City FC to its best season yet on the amateur side, including a 12-2-1 record, a 14-match unbeaten run, the club’s first women’s trophy with the USL W League Central Conference title and a run to the National Semifinal.
He returned as head coach for the 2025 W League campaign before transitioning into an assistant coach and advisor role this past season, with former-assistant Dani Evans taking the reins as head coach.
Dwaihy now serves as Detroit City FC’s Chief of Soccer Development, continuing to help shape the club’s soccer operations and long-term vision across the entire organization.
