Detroit City FC returns home Saturday, August 15, when Le Rouge welcomes Loudoun United to Keyworth Stadium.
Detroit City enters the match in third place in the Eastern Conference, carrying a 9-4-5 record and 31 points through 18 matches. Le Rouge has been in strong form of late, taking 13 points from its last six league matches.
DCFC holds an edge across several key team metrics, including goals scored (26 to 21), goals conceded (17 to 30), shots (244 to 205) and shots on target (86 to 70). Le Rouge’s ability to turn a lead into points has been especially important: Detroit City is unbeaten when scoring first this season, posting an 8-1-0 record in those matches.
Key players
Most recently, DCFC earned a 1-0 road victory at FC Tulsa behind another resilient defensive performance. The result marked goalkeeper Carlos Herrera’s seventh clean sheet of the season, tied for the second-most in the USL Championship.
Detroit City’s defensive strength has extended beyond the goal line. Le Rouge has allowed only 17 goals all season, with the unit continuing to deliver in key moments during the recent run of form. Defenders Devon Amoo-Mensah, Haruki Yamazaki and Callum Montgomery have each been regular fixtures in the lineup, providing continuity to a back line that has kept two clean sheets across DCFC’s last six league matches.
At the other end, Darren Smith remains the league’s leading scorer with 12 goals in 18 appearances. Smith will once again lead an attack supported by Kobe Hernández-Foster, whose four assists and 32 chances created lead Le Rouge. Ates Diouf has also been a frequent threat, leading the side with 43 shots.
Loudoun arrives in Detroit City sitting 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 3-9-6 record. While the visitors have collected just 18 points, they enter the weekend having won two of their last three matches, with road victories at Indy Eleven and a 2-0 home result against Hartford Athletic before last weekend’s narrow defeat to Charleston Battery.
The danger for Loudoun starts with Thorleifur Úlfarsson. The forward has scored eight goals this season, placing him among the USL Championship’s leading scorers, and has added two assists in 16 starts. Abdellatif Aboukoura has contributed four goals, while defender Richard Aman leads the team with four assists.
Head-to-head
Saturday’s match will mark the 10th all-time meeting between Detroit City FC and Loudoun United. DCFC holds a 4-2-3 advantage in the series, which dates back to 2022, though Loudoun took both meetings last season. The sides played to a scoreless draw in their first matchup of 2026 on May 23, when Le Rouge limited Loudoun to five shots.
A win at Keyworth would strengthen Le Rouge’s hold on a top-three position in the Eastern Conference and carry momentum into a demanding late-August stretch. With a home matchup against first-place Tampa Bay Rowdies looming next weekend, three points against Loudoun would provide DCFC a valuable result before a pair of high-stakes conference tests.
