Detroit City FC battled back late to earn a 2-2 draw with Union FC Macomb at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday night, with all four goals coming in a frenetic second half. Detroit City Goalkeeper Allison Lapoint backstopped the result for Le Rouge, turning away five of seven shots on target over 90 minutes in one of her most composed outings of the campaign.
The opening 45 minutes stayed scoreless, but Lapoint was already sharp, organizing a young back line and dealing cleanly with Union’s early looks from distance. Detroit generated three first-half shots to Union’s three, with Lapoint’s positioning and handling helping keep the visitors from capitalizing on their best moments before the break.
Le Rouge finally found their breakthrough in the 52nd minute after sustained pressure to open the second half. A deep ball landed from Lily Jeakle to give Detroit City a 1-0 lead and spark the Keyworth crowd.
Union FC Macomb responded with a goal from Layla Tomczak. She struck for the equalizer in the 68th minute and added a second in the 75th, punishing Detroit in transition to flip the match to a 2-1 advantage for the visitors.
With Detroit chasing the game late, Erin Rasmussen landed a Mira Webster-assisted equalizer to make it 2-2 and ensure Detroit took something from the performance.
