Detroit City FC earned a 1-0 victory over Kalamazoo FC in its 2026 USL W League home opener Saturday night at Keyworth Stadium. Lily Jeakle scored the lone goal for Le Rouge on a thrilling last-minute penalty kick.
Detroit finished with seven shots and controlled the set-piece battle, earning six corners to Kalamazoo’s one. Kalamazoo put eight shots toward goal, but Allison Lapoint held firm, and Detroit’s back line helped preserve the clean sheet en route to a second straight win to open the season after the club’s 2-1 road victory over AFC Ann Arbor on May 16.
Detroit made five substitutions on the night, with Mira Webster, Erin Torrence, Ava Landstra, Megan Verant, and Mackenzie Reuber all entering as Le Rouge managed the second half. Kalamazoo was shown two cautions late in the match, one to Vesna Dennison in the 78th minute for time wasting and another to Kailah Newcomb in the 90th minute for dissent.
