Hamtramck, MI (October 2, 2021) - Detroit City FC returned to Keyworth Stadium on Saturday to play their home matchup against Maryland Bobcats after beating them 4-0 when they visited Maryland in September.

After an initial ten minutes that both teams spent feeling each other out in the match, City began to assert their game plan. As the half went on, City’s offense created more and more chances through quick and direct passing and taking advantage of space in the midfield and on the wings.

Detroit ended the half with seven shots on goal, and plenty of close attempts, but none ended up in the back of the net. Le Rouge also dominated the bulk of possession in the match, pinning Maryland back in their own half as they tilted the match in their favor.

The second half was much of the same story. City dominated possession and sent the ball into Maryland’s box on numerous occasions, but couldn’t get the final touch they needed to go ahead in the match. Maryland occasionally was able to get forward on the counter, but #1 Nate Steinwashcer was where he needed to be to keep a clean sheet in the match and earn a point for Le Rouge.

Detroit City FC, now 8-2-1 on the season, will return to Keyworth Stadium next weekend for their first matchup of the season against Michigan Stars FC. The fixture will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2021, with kickoff set for 4:00 pm ET.
