Detroit City FC today announced it will host Club de Fútbol Lobos de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Lobos BUAP) of Mexico’s Liga MX for an international friendly match at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Mich., on Wednesday, July 10.

The international match is presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions as part of the S3 International Series. The friendly marks Lobos BUAP’s first-ever match in the United States.

Kickoff for the match is set for 7:30 PM ET.

Based in Puebla, Mexico, Lobos BUAP was promoted to Liga MX in 2017. Lobos BUAP represents the Autonomous University of Puebla and is one of several Liga MX teams that have their origins as a university club.

Lobos is managed by Francisco Palencia, who most notably made 239 appearances for Cruz Azul from 1994-2003 and earned 64 caps for the Mexico National Team from 1996-2009.

DCFC vs. Lobos BUAP is a continuation of S3 International Series presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions, which in the past has included matches against FC United of Manchester, Glentoran FC and FC St. Pauli.

Lobos BUAP is the second Liga MX team to visit Keyworth Stadium. DCFC hosted Club Necaxa last July in front of 7,449 supporters – its third-highest attendance in club history.

“We’re excited to bring another Liga MX club to Detroit and continue to create an inclusive environment for our region’s diverse soccer community,” DCFC CEO Sean Mann said. “And we’re thankful to Cindy Pasky and Strategic Staffing Solutions for allowing us to continue bringing world-class clubs to Keyworth.”

"S3 is proud to have sponsored Detroit City Football Club since its early days as a community club,” Cynthia J. Pasky, President and CEO of Strategic Staffing Solutions, said. "We're even more proud to watch it grow from a grassroots effort to a credible athletic organization that hosts international teams such as Lobos BUAP. DCFC adds so much vibrancy to Hamtramck and to the larger Detroit community."

Tickets for the match will go on sale Friday, May 17 at tickets.detcityfc.com.
