Detroit City Football Club

It is with a mixture of sadness and pride that we announce our first year coaches, Kylie Stannard and Cale Wassermann, will not be joining us for the 2013 season.  We are sure they will continue their rise through the coaching ranks and wish them nothing but continued success.

Coaches Stannard and Wassermann played an integral role in the initial success of Detroit City FC and helped establish an expectation for professionalism and excellence that will guide our organization for years to come. Kylie and Cale pulled together a squad that represented the finest talent our region had to offer, leading them to a 5-2-5 record and a second place divisional finish.

Both coaches saw continued success in the fall with their respective college teams. After a shaky start to the season, Coach Stannard’s Michigan State squad pulled together an impressive second-half run culminating in a Big Ten Conference tournament championship and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA tournament.  In his third year at the helm, Coach Wassermann guided Saginaw Valley State to their best finish in program history as National Runners-Up in just their second trip to the NCAA Division II tournament. Cale went on to be selected as the NSCAA Division II Midwest Region Coach of the Year.

Both coaches look forward to assisting Detroit City FC where they can in the future and have shared with us their sincere and deep feelings about Le Rouge.

Coach Stannard:  "Being a part of DCFC year 1 was truly an honor and a special experience.  This is certainly a special group, with special fans, in a special city.  Although I regret that I can't be directly involved in year 2, DCFC will always have a special place in my heart."

Coach Wassermann:    "This past summer I had the honor of being a part of something special. Being a part of the inaugural season of DCFC is something I will always cherish. The opportunity to help build the team from the start with a great group of owners that truly cared about a cause bigger than just the game was something special in Detroit. The players, DCFC staff, and especially the most diehard fans in the NPSL made it all unforgettable. I will always be CITY TIL I DIE."

We look forward to announcing our new head coach in the coming days.
